Who publishes Reseller Taxes?

The team behind FlowLister, an AI tool that writes eBay listings from item photos, including a price taken from sold listings. It's AI, so it misses things. FlowLister doesn't prepare taxes, keep books or give tax advice. Tax confusion comes up constantly among sellers, and it was worth writing down properly.

Is this tax advice?

No. We're not accountants, enrolled agents or attorneys, and nothing here is advice about your situation. It explains how US federal tax generally works, so a conversation with a professional is shorter and better informed. It doesn't cover state tax. For anything you act on, check with a CPA or enrolled agent, or against IRS.gov.

Where do the figures come from?

Every threshold, rate, date and form reference comes from a primary source: IRS pages, forms, instructions, publications and notices, the tax code and Treasury regulations, or, for how eBay handles its forms, eBay's own help pages. Each figure names the tax year it applies to and links to its source. The figures were checked against those sources on September 23, 2026.

Where the IRS hasn't published something, the site says so rather than guessing. The 2026 versions of Schedule C and Schedule SE weren't final when the pages were checked, so line numbers refer to the 2025 forms.

How is it kept current?

  • October to December: new brackets, standard deduction and Social Security wage base.
  • December: the next year's mileage rate, and any mid-year change like the one in July 2026.
  • January: final forms, the new Form 1040-ES dates, and eBay's 1099-K help for the new year.
  • Any time the IRS issues a new 1099-K notice or rule.
